IAPT Services have an exciting opportunity for an Employment Advisor! 

This role involves working closely with clinicians to provide integrated packages of psychological therapies and employment support to people with common mental health problems who are struggling at work, off sick from work or looking to find work

The Employment Advisor (EA) will work with around 30 to 40 people at any one time and is likely to work with around 100 clients in any one year. The EA is responsible for co-ordinating the integrated package of care to ensure that therapy and employment support are provided to support the individual to improve their employment position.

Responsibilities 

• To manage a caseload of participants (up to 100 people per year) who have experienced mental health problems and who wish to retain, return to or regain employment.
• Providing a personalised support service, focusing on the aspirations of the participant and using evidence based interventions in order to offer the most effective support.
• Recording and processing client outcomes (3 per month expectation) and delivering In Work Support where beneficial.
• Conducting participant assessments, discussing job goals and potential barriers to work, conducting job search activity, action planning, consideration of external job seeker support, interview support and training on interviewing preparation.
• To report any progress, change or adverse event promptly to a senior EA.
• Recording the participant’s employment journey on the IAPT system and consulting with their IAPT clinician where relevant.
• Liaising with prospective employers where required, aiming to identify work solutions that will overcome or minimise difficulties within the workplace.
• Increasing Employer awareness of the implications under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments.
• Keeping up to date with the evidence base of effective interventions to support people with common mental health problems to remain in, return to and gain work.
• To develop and maintain the integration of mental health treatment and employment support by establishing effective liaison of IAPT employment support services and other health and social care services.

Knowledge & Experience 

• Experience in vocational training, careers advice, job retention and/or presenteeism
• Experience of providing vocational/employment support.
• Experience of working towards performance targets
• Experience of supporting people with Mental Health conditions into vocational/employment activities.
• Understanding of the employment needs barriers and difficulties faced by people with Mental Health conditions.
• Knowledge of evidence based interventions to support people with common Mental Health conditions remain in, return to & gain work
