As the Head of Compliance & Audit, you are responsible for managing Risk and Controls, Compliance and Audit, Data Protection and Safeguarding in addition to leading the Compliance and Audit team.


As the Head of Compliance & Audit, you will:


  • Define and implement a compliance strategy that meets the need of the business
  • Regularly review and benchmark compliance and quality performance
  • Strategically develop services on an ongoing basis for current and future delivery
  • Work closely with Employability operations teams to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service
  • Manage, coach, and direct a multi-skilled team to deliver a high-quality compliance service
  • Manage, coach, and direct a team of regulatory compliance experts to ensure appropriate H&S, Safeguarding, Business Continuity and Data Protection
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards
  • Manage and regularly review the Compliance and Assurance budget, ensuring cost objectives are met
  • Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
  • Maintain awareness of the risks that may impact on the Division
  • Ensure effective oversight of the organisation’s responses to suspected fraud, including conducting / directing / overseeing fraud investigations as required
  • Direct the team to analyse audit findings and conduct root cause analysis
  • Develop a culture of privacy awareness and privacy by design
  • Implement and maintain a data protection framework
  • Share best practice and provide direction to Quality Management professionals


As our Head of Compliance & Audit, you will have:


  • Relevant degree and/or equivalent competence/experience
  • Experience of Contractual and Regulatory Compliance and Internal Controls
  • Experience of working across the following sectors; employability, skills, health, youth justice
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management and compliance and their application within the business
  • Experience of leading a team of audit and assurance specialists to deliver a high-quality programme of audit activity
  • Commercial/contractual awareness and business acumen
  • Well-developed presentation skills and the confidence to facilitate workshops both internally and externally
  • Experience of dealing directly with Senior/Executive Management (Board and Audit Committee level)
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
