Position Description
NEETS Mentor
Salary: From £24,000 per annum
As a Mentor, you will support disengaged young people on their caseload and provide a variety of support and interventions / signposting to assist participants on their journey into sustainable education, employment and / or training.
One to One Mentor support will be core of your role, building trust and undertaking activities and interventions that are best delivered face to face including employer advocacy, assessing learning and basic skills needed for ongoing supported referrals into colleges and training providers / work trials.
We are specifically looking for Mentors to cover Oldham / Trafford / Tameside
You will have some significant duties, such as:
- Motivate and engage participants to maximise take-up of education, training and skills opportunities and / or to find and sustain suitable employment
- Support CV writing, cover letters and job applications to a high-quality standard
- Coach and prepare participants for job interviews and assessments
- Make appropriate referrals to Functional skills provision
- Ability to use remote methods of communication for various interaction / activities
We are looking for someone who has expertise in the following:
- Demonstrable coaching/mentoring experience and persuasion/influencing skills
- Experience of youth-facing roles
- Exceptional admin, motivation and communication skills and be able to build rapport/trust
- Experience working in a target driven environment and a proven track record of exceeding targets
- Experience of working within employability
- Experience of delivering services one-to- one and in group environments
- Excellent listening & communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with participants and to communicate effectively
- Ability to make and maintain excellent professional relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Excellent IT skills
